Navigating Performance-Based Buildings

The Building Code of Australia sets out two pathways to achieve compliance, these include: · Deemed to satisfy approach (i.e. by using the prescriptive requirements set out under the BCA) and/or · Performance Solutions (i.e. by using justification, verification and testing through experts, such as fire engineers, disability consultants or similar consultants relevant to the field). In our experience, through a combination of Deemed-to-Satisfy and Performance Solutions, we find buildings achieve compliance by using sensible design initiatives, resulting in better outcomes for all stakeholders and the end user.
